Wrestlemania 13 Review

Well I’m sure nothing happens at this show. I mean, look at the card!

The Headbangers (Mosh and Thrasher) defeated The New Blackjacks (Barry Windham and Justin Bradshaw), The Godwinns (Phineas & Henry) and Doug Furnas & Phil LaFon in a Four Way Tag Team Elimination Match to earn a shot at the WWF Tag Team Titles (10:39)
Windham was counted out. (4:37)
Furnas was counted out. (5:00)
Thrasher pinned Phineas with a Cannonball Senton. (10:39)

Sucked.

Rocky Maivia defeated The Sultan (w/Bob Backlund and The Iron Sheik) to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship (9:45)
Maivia pinned The Sultan with a Roll-up.

God this was painful.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley (w/Chyna) defeated Goldust (w/Marlena) (14:28)
Helmsley pinned Goldust following a Pedigree.

Too long.

WWF Tag Team Champions Owen Hart and The British Bulldog fought Mankind and Vader (w/Paul Bearer) to a double count-out (16:08)
Both teams were counted out, causing the match to be declared a draw. Hart and Bulldog retained the titles.

I used to love this match (I mean like ***1/2 love, not **** love) but it does not hold up nowadays.

Bret Hart defeated Steve Austin (w/Ken Shamrock as Special Guest Referee) in a Submission match (22:05)
Hart rendered Austin unconscious using the Sharpshooter.
*****
Maybe the most important match in wrestling history. At least the most important match since Hogan vs. Andre at WM III. An all time classic.

The Legion of Doom (Hawk and Animal) and Ahmed Johnson defeated The The Nation of Domination (Crush, Faarooq and Savio Vega) (w/Wolfie D, J.C. Ice and Clarence Mason) in a Six-Man Chicago Street Fight (10:45)
Animal pinned Crush following a 2x4 blow.

Hella-fun match. The pinfall was incredibly dumb but whatcha gonna do?

The Undertaker defeated Sycho Sid to win the WWF Championship (21:19)
Undertaker pinned Sid following a Tombstone Piledriver after interference from Bret Hart.
This was billed as a "no disqualification" match at the last minute
Bret Hart interfered in this match on three occasions. On the first occasion, he delayed the start of the match, and was subsequently powerbombed by Sid. Hart's second and third appearances saw him going after and attacking Sid.

Not the best way to end your biggest show of the year.

~ Everyone should see the Austin vs. Hart match at least once. The Street Fight was actually kinda fun.
