2000 Royal Rumble Review

Now it starts to get good.

Tazz defeated Kurt Angle (3:16)
Tazz won when Angle passed out while in the Tazzmission.
**1/2
They did the best they could with 3 minutes and it was awesome. Can't go higher becasue of time constraints. This was Tazz's debut match and Kurt Angle's 1st loss.

The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff) defeated The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von) in a Tables match (10:18)
Jeff Hardy hit a Swanton Bomb on D-Von off the balcony and through the table.
***3/4
The 1st tables match in WWF. It was great from start to finish.

Mae Young won the Miss Rumble 2000 swimsuit contest, defeating Ivory, Terri, Jacqueline, Barbara Bush, Luna and The Kat
The judges were: "Classy" Freddie Blassie, The Fabulous Moolah, Tony Garea, Andy Richter, Sgt. Slaughter, and Johnny Valiant.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT WATCH THIS! Terri actually looks pretty good...Kat too. BUT STILL!

Chris Jericho (c) defeated Chyna (c) and Hardcore Holly in a Triple Threat match to gain sole possession of the WWF Intercontinental Championship (7:30)
Jericho pinned Chyna after a Lionsault.
Jericho and Chyna were co-champions going into the match.
**1/2
Another really short match. Still good though.

The New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg and Mr. Ass) defeated The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) to retain the WWF Tag Team Championship (2:35)
Mr. Ass pinned Bradshaw after a Fameasser.
During the match, X-Pac interfered on behalf of the Outlaws.
*1/4
Again, short as can be, but good for what it was.

Triple H defeated Cactus Jack in a Street Fight to retain the WWF Championship (26:51)
Triple H pinned Jack after a Pedigree onto thumbtacks.
*****
This is the match that made HHH. An all time classic and my first ***** match in almost 3 years and my last for over 4.

The Rock won the 2000 Royal Rumble (51:49)
The final two participants were The Rock and The Big Show. While The Big Show tried to throw The Rock over the top rope, Rock hung onto the top rope, sending Big Show over the top rope to win the Rumble. (51:47)
Big Show however claimed he won the 2000 Royal Rumble, as both of the Rock's feet hit the floor first. He later showed video footage proving his statement right, and was awarded a match with The Rock with the WrestleMania title shot on the line.
During the match non-participants Mean Street Posse and Kai En Tai make numerous attempts to get into the match. However, they all get tossed out of the ring.
