No Mercy 1999 Review

Still waiting on that Match of the Year you say?

The Godfather defeated Mideon (7:31)
Godfather pinned Mideon after a Ho Train.
¼*
7 minutes for this? Please bitch, please.

The Fabulous Moolah defeated Ivory to win the WWF Women's Championship (3:01)
Moolah pinned Ivory with a roll-up.
-1/2*
All right, now here we go. What do you get when you have an 80 year old woman wrestle? NEGATIVE STARS! Could have been worse but it was only 3 minutes. Couldn't just give it a DUD though becasue that would be an insult to DUDs everywhere.

Hardcore Holly and Crash Holly defeated The New Age Outlaws (Mr. Ass and Road Dogg) by disqualification (10:11)
Mr. Ass was disqualified after giving Crash a Fameasser on a steel chair.
**1/4
OK match and bad gimmick. It was for the tag titles until Rock and Sock won it 3 days before. The Hollys actually cost the NAO the belts there. Now they get no title match. Stupid?

Chyna defeated Jeff Jarrett in a Good Housekeeping Match to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship (8:37)
Chyna pinned Jarrett after hitting him with his own guitar.
**1/4
This was pretty decent for a hardcore match. I never really had a problem with Chyna as IC champ, even though almost every man did. I mean, she was bigger than X-pac.

The Rock defeated The British Bulldog (6:20)
Rock pinned British Bulldog after a People's Elbow.
*1/2
Blah. Ok for a 6 minute match I suppose.

The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff) defeated Edge and Christian in a Ladder match (16:30)
Jeff grabbed the suspended sack of money to win the match.
This was the finals of the "Terri Invitational" where the winners won the managerial services of Terri.
****1/2
The Razor-Michaels match of tag team ladder matches. It was also the 1st tag team ladder match. MOTY

Val Venis defeated Mankind (9:26)
Venis pinned Mankind after a Testicular Claw.
**1/4
Pretty good for Val Venis.

X-Pac defeated Bradshaw, Kane and Faarooq in a Four Corners Elimination match (10:08)
Kane pinned Bradshaw after a Chokeslam(8:25)
X-Pac pinned Kane after a spinning heel-kick off of the top rope.
X-Pac pinned Faarooq after an X-Factor(10:08)
**
Eh.

Triple H defeated Steve Austin in an Anything Goes match to retain the WWF Championship (21:53)
Triple H pinned Austin after The Rock inadvertently hit Austin with a sledgehammer.

Solid enough for the main event. I won 10 bucks off this match because it was so obvious HHH was gonna win. World title's rarely change hand at second rate shows.

~ A total one match card. No need to really see it just for the one match as there would be matches just as good as and even better than this one.
