In Your House VIII: Beware of Dog Review

A very strange show to say the least

Marc Mero defeated Hunter Hearst Helmsley (16:23)
Mero pinned Helmsley after a catapult into the ring post.

Good match

WWF Champion Shawn Michaels fought The British Bulldog to a no contest (17:21)
The match ended with a double-pin, resulting in a draw. Michaels retained the WWF Title.
***1/2
Shawn's worst match of the PPV year.

A severe thunderstorm caused the power to go out before the Austin/Vega match (after Mero vs. HHH) and come back on before the Michaels/Bulldog match. The televised event was rescheduled for May 28, 1996 from the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, South Carolina. Two matches televised from the May 26th event were shown again at the beginning of the rescheduled pay-per-view.

Savio Vega defeated Steve Austin (w/Ted DiBiase) in a Caribbean Strap match (21:27)
Vega won after Austin deliberately made Vega touch the final turnbuckle.
An added stipulation stated that if Savio Vega won the match, Ted Dibiase must leave the WWF.
****1/4
A forgotten classic. Austin later said he lost on purpose so he could get out of his contract with The Million Dollar Man.

Vader (w/Jim Cornette) defeated Yokozuna (8:53)
Vader pinned Yokozuna.

I liked this match better in the dark.

Goldust defeated The Undertaker in a Casket match to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship (12:36)
Goldust won when Mankind, who was hiding in the casket, applied the Mandible claw to The Undertaker and dragged him in.
*1/4
Blah.

~ One great match and 2 *** matches make this a recommended show.
