Armageddon 2007 Review

Can the show live up to the hype?

Rey Mysterio defeated WWE United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter by count-out (11:29)
MVP was counted out after refusing to get back in the ring. As a result, MVP retained the title.
**3/4
This was going well before the countout.

Big Daddy V and Mark Henry (w/Matt Striker) defeated CM Punk and Kane (10:40)
Big Daddy V pinned Punk after a Samoan Drop.
*3/4
The match was dragging for a bit until the end.

Shawn Michaels defeated Mr. Kennedy (15:15)
Michaels pinned Kennedy after a Sweet Chin Music.
***
Kennedy's best match ever. It felt like they took out the first 5 minutes of the match.

Jeff Hardy defeated Triple H (15:22)
Hardy pinned Triple H after reversing a Pedigree attempt into a jackknife pin to
win a WWE Championship match at Royal Rumble 2008.

Really good stuff here but there were a lot of botches and miscommunications.

Finlay (w/Hornswoggle) defeated The Great Khali (w/Ranjin Singh) (6:04)
Finlay pinned Khali after Hornswoggle gave Khali a low blow with a shillelagh and Finlay hit Khali in the head with a shillelagh.
¾*
As awful as I figured it would be.

Chris Jericho defeated WWE Champion Randy Orton by disqualification (15:04)
Orton was disqualified after John "Bradshaw" Layfield kicked Jericho in the head. As a result, Orton retained the title.
***1/4
Started off slowly but by the end it was kicked into high gear. Might as well book JBL vs. Y2J for Mania (because the world needed to see that).

Beth Phoenix defeated Mickie James to retain the WWE Women's Championship (4:46)
Phoenix pinned James after a Delayed Fisherman's suplex.
*1/4
OK for time given.

Edge defeated Batista (c) and The Undertaker in a Triple Threat match to win the World Heavyweight Championship (13:00)
Edge pinned Batista after a Tombstone Piledriver from Undertaker.
Edge used two look-alikes to distract Undertaker and Batista during the match.

Better than I thought it would be.

Well I was 6/8 for predictions (actually 4/8 put I knew Orton and MVP would retain so I'm counting that because its my blog). Not WWE PPV of the year but in the top half.
